Getting ready for spring

Checking to see how the Civic Center garden weathered the winter

City crews have cut back the Civic Center garden, and Doug and Peter stopped by the other day to see how the plants had weathered the winter months. So far, it looks as if there have been few losses from frost heave or rabbits. Prairie smoke with stone plant labelAllison’s plant labels also stood up well to cold weather, and this prairie smoke (Geum triflorum) is already greening up. Volunteers will start working in the next few weeks to monitor conditions in the garden and keep weeds at bay. Get in touch if you want to help out.
